It was my sporty background that bred my passion for health and fitness. Being raised in Gisborne, rugby and surfing were areas I devoted most of my time and effort, that’s not to say I haven’t tried everything in between, but it was definitely where my love and understanding of exercise developed.

Initially, the gym was just a place for me to train, to strengthen movements that would help improve my performance. I would turn up, do my thing and leave. But as I explored more around the place, as I met each new interesting person, as I experimented more on myself, all these gyms I visited started to feel less like a training facility and more like a home. I enjoyed the company I received at the gym and I was more than happy with the results I was seeing (both functional and aesthetic) so here I still am today, doing my best to provide a safe and friendly environment to make people keen and excited to train! My goal is to have people look forward to working out rather than see it as a chore, I want them to feel just as good as I did about coming to the gym!

Remember, achieving our goals requires a lot of determination and resilience, to do so we must treat our failures like new beginnings rather than an ending. See them as milestones or checkpoints to complete in order to improve. This gives us the strength to attack each failure as a challenge, overcome that challenge, and look back with pride at just how many checkpoints we’ve come through!

See despite my happy-go-lucky disposition, I’m a strong believer in hard work and consistency being the key to success in all areas, especially in the gym, so I have a lot of respect and admiration for anyone on the grind to make a positive change to their lifestyle. Whether we exercise to build muscle, lose fat, increase cardio fitness, increase strength, relieve stress or rehabilitate, we all share a common goal to progress, to better ourselves!

About Christian

What sets me apart from other trainers is that I focus on results! I have always loved helping people and I want to help you too. 

You may be thinking to yourself, I can’t achieve that or look that way! And that’s exactly how my clients used to think before they started training with me.

How I provide results is based on my life’s experience. As a child I was what most people would call chubby, I got picked on at school and had a very tough time. After I finished college I joined the gym and decided to make a change for the better. This change was not as fast as I had wanted, as I had no knowledge of what to do. So I proceeded to try every exercise and diet I could find to get me to my goals. You may be in the same boat now. At this time I was also studying psychology at university and investigating lots of self-improvement methods. This was when everything started to connect for me. It was the combination of the correct styles of training and my new mind-set that finally got me into a body I was happy with. I had found the key to getting what I wanted and staying that way. From there I decided that I didn’t want to be a psychologist, I wanted to help people change their bodies and change their lives. After completing my degree, I went back to school and became a personal trainer. I started working at Snap Fitness and stayed with the franchise for nearly five years before moving onto Exodus. During this period of time I educated myself on everything I could to make my clients succeed.

I’m more than a personal trainer. As Founder and Director at Fitbodies Coaching I have developed a passion for empowering women to become fitter, stronger, more authentic versions of themselves. My aim is to inspire my clients to reach their individual goals and achieve a balanced, sustainable lifestyle that is truly unique to them.

I was born in Melbourne, Australia, grew up in Perth, and have studied and travelled all over the world. As an internationally-trained coach and body transformation specialist, I deliver proven training and nutritional programs that create the best possible results for my clients. Committed to ongoing education, I qualified with Certificate 3 & 4 in 2014 and completed further training in 2015 & 2016. I am also certified as a Clean Health Level 1 & 2 trainer and am an expert in individual nutrition programming. Continually looking for more ways to better myself and my clients, I never stop learning.

I believe in promoting a balanced, sustainable lifestyle which is evident in my dedication to practicing what I preach as both a coach and role model. Exercise has almost always played a big part of my life – the ‘almost’ referring to times I wasn’t looking after my health and fitness but knew I should be!

When I was a youngster I used to be involved in various competitive sports, but I have to say that this came to a bit of a lull once I started going to Uni and demolishing a block of Cadbury white milk bubbly chocolate per day. At this stage I’d go running maybe once a week at most for about 20 minutes in an attempt to curb the growth of my waistline but it didn’t make any difference. Eventually things got to the stage where I decided that I had to do something about my bad habits and I came in to Exodus for a trial.

Despite my apprehensions, which stemmed from never having attended a gym in my life, I really loved the Exo-Circuit, Box-Circuit and Power classes at Exodus and from that point on I became a bit of a gym junkie! The classes fitted in great with my schedule and I found them to be much more motivating than working out alone.

I then started to incorporate weight lifting into my training. To start with I got a buzz out of seeing the progress I was making – an extra 2.5kg here and there added up quickly. Now I try to never skip a weights session. It’s tough work but I feel great afterwards and am so much stronger now than when I started.

With classes and strength training making good progress I decided I needed to test out my cardio fitness. I had done a bit of running before so decided a half marathon was the way to go. I trained with the Exodus Run Group in late 2015/early 2016 and 12 weeks later I ran the half marathon at the Wellington Round the Bays. Despite some very sore legs screaming bloody murder at me around the 16km point I managed to finish. Maybe one day I’ll be convinced to try another, but for now I prefer shorter trail runs!

Overall, whether it be cardio, weights or classes I like a challenge and it’s always satisfying seeing how much one can achieve with a bit of dedication and with the right training (and of course a lot of willpower)! I still don’t have that much willpower when it comes to chocolate though.

Growing up I have always been an active participant in sporting events, this has developed into a love for exercise and the gym. I played softball from a toddler to my late teens then began my study at the New Zealand Institute of Sport where I achieved a Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training and a Level 6 Diploma in Advanced Exercise Prescription. My diploma gave me the knowledge of more complex exercises and training techniques from the high end athletes to the beginner athletes.

Although my time studying limited my ability to play sport I am still a passionate fan of many sports. My favourite sports to watch would be football, rugby and UFC but I still enjoy the odd cricket game or tennis match.

My life goal in the exercise industry is to help people. Whether it’s taking you through your first workout, or giving you some tips on the nutrition side of things, I want to help you reach those all important goals you have set and if you haven’t got any then that’s another thing I can help you with!

    Yes! Before your first training session with a Personal Trainer you will sit down together to discuss your goals and exactly what you are wanting to achieve.  Then your trainer will create a plan specifically tailored to your goals.

  • Do you help with nutrition guidance? 

    All Personal Trainers focus on different aspects of health and fitness. Some trainers concentrate on nutrition in particular. You can check out trainers’ profiles and their specialties below.

  • Can you cater for injuries?

    During your initial consultation with your Personal Trainer you will discuss any past or present injuries. Your trainer will cater your programme around these injuries and may check in with a physio if necessary.
